Jaffa oranges from Palestine will shortly be placed on the Canadian market for the first time. A shipment of three hundred cases of oranges from his plantations near Jaffa has just been received by Asher Pierce of Montreal and is being distributed to Montreal and Toronto dealers.
The oranges were shipped from Palestine to Halifax, the Canadian port of entry, and were sent from Halifax to Montreal by rail. The oranges were packed by a special process and have not suffered in transit. The question now being asked by those interested in promoting Palestine-Canada commercial relations, is whether this orange, which is recognized on the European market as the best, will take with the Canadian consumers. If this shipment of Mr. Pierce’s proves a success, it will be the forerunner for a new market in Canada for regular shipments of Jaffa oranges, it was pointed out.
