Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat condemned Israel after a two-hour White House meeting with President Clinton. “I am not the one who initiated the violence,” Arafat told reporters. “My tanks are not sieging Israeli towns.” In his meeting with Clinton, Arafat pressed the idea of using a U.N. peacekeeping force to intervene in the conflict.
