Ill feeling against the Jews in the district of Pokrovsk, Ukraine, has developed in a sharp form among the peasants, the Stern, Communist Yiddish Daily of Charkov reports. The peasants accuse the Jews of marketing their corn to the peasants instead of selling it to the government. They also assert that the Jews mix sand into the corn thus increasing the weight, and at the same time charging high prices. They complain that the bread of which they are deprived is given to Jewish settlers who in turn sell it to the peasants.
The paper further reports that conditions in the Jewish collectives is not satisfactory. It is charged that the Jews who are official members of the collectives do not work themselves, but hire peasants, instead, which is a violation of the principle of collectivization.
