The board of trustees of the Federation of Jewish Agencies today approved allocations from the $4,411,238 raised by the 1964 Allied Jewish Appeal for Jewish rescue, relief and resettlement overseas and educational, cultural and community relations programs in Philadelphia and nationally. The Federation is the sponsor of the Allied Jewish Appeal.
I. M. Krekstein, chairman of the Allocation Committee, announced that of the allocations, $993,995 was for local needs; $306,020 for national purposes and $2,374,908 for overseas needs. The largest allocation–$2,193,908–by pre-campaign agreement went to the national United Jewish Appeal.
The allocations included $465,840 approved last June for local Jewish education. Additional grants for other Jewish educational and cultural institutions amounted to $110,500. In the field of community relations, a total of $273,500 was allocated. The largest appropriation in this field –$104,500–went to a local organization, the Jewish Community Relations Council.
