The 35th anniversary year observance of Pioneer Women, the Women’s Labor Zionist Organization of America, will be launched with a two-day conference at the Statler-Hilton Hotel here on September 18-19, to be attended by some 1,000 delegates, it was announced today by Mrs. Clara Leff, president. She also announced the selection of Mrs. Israel Goldstein, past national president, as national chairman of the anniversary committee.
Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, Israel Ambassador Avraham Harman, Israel Finance Minister Levi Eshkol and Beba Idelson, Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, will be among the speakers at the New York conference. Similar conferences are scheduled in October in Canada. The principal event this fall will be a conclave in Jerusalem on October 26 at which several hundred Pioneer Women leaders will be present.
