President Ignace Moscicki today nominated two Jews among the 32 appointed as Senators — Rabbi Isaac Rubenstein, former Deputy, and Zdislaw Zmigryder Konopka, leader of the Jewish war veterans’ organization. Under the constitution the President names one-third of the Upper House, which comprises 96 members, while the other two-thirds are selected by special electoral commissions. The new Senate has the same proportion of minorities representatives as its predecessor — six Ukrainians, two Jews and two Germans.
