The committee arranging for the repatriation of Polish citizens in the Soviet Union will have on it five Jewish representatives to be appointed by the Jewish Organizational Committee of the Union of Polish Patriots in the USSR, it was decided here at the closing session of a conference of Polish Jews from all parts of the USSR.
The Jewish representatives will be charged with gathering data concerning the vocational and professional training of the Jews wishing to return to Poland, so that the repatriates may be reintegrated into the economic life of the country as soon after their return as possible.
The meeting also adopted resolutions thanking the Jews in the United States, Britain and Palestine for the assistance given Polish Jews in the Soviet Union and expressing appreciation of the interest taken by Russian Jewry in the restoration of Jewish life in Poland.
Leo Finkelstein, chairman of the conference, in a concluding address, thanked the Soviet Union “which gave the remnants of Polish Jews a possibility of surviving the war period,” for facilitating their return to their homeland.
