Pope Pius today deplored the displaying of the swastika flag in Rome. Addressing 500 newly-married couples at Castel Gandalfo, the Pope recalled that yesterday was the feast day of the Holy Cross and called it a sad thing “that on the feast day of the Holy Cross of Christ the banners of another cross, which certainly is not that of Christ, should have been raised in Rome.” He added that “this was out of place and time.”
