President Bush said he is “strongly committed” to the principles for Israeli-Palestinian peace that he laid out in a June 24 speech. Meeting last Friday at the White House with representatives of the other members of the diplomatic “Quartet” working toward Mideast peace — the United Nations, European Union and Russia — Bush expressed support for the group’s efforts to help create a Palestinian state as part of a wider peace accord.
