Gratitude to the Jewish War Veterans for their activities in connection with the war effort was expressed here yesterday by President Roosevelt, receiving Benjamin Kaufman, the national commander, at the White House.
The Veterans are at present engaged in a drive to bring about the purchase of $25,000,000 worth of war bonds, of which more than $12,000,000 have already been sold. In addition, the organization is raising a fund of $180,000 to be presented as an outright gift to the government of the United States for the purchase of six Airo-Cobra Pursuit Planes.
