Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and President Bush met for one hour in the White House on Sunday. A National Security Council spokesman later said the United States expects the Palestinian Authority and its president, Yasser Arafat, to act immediately. “If Chairman Arafat is going to be a leader, it’s time to step up,” Sean McCormack said.
