Prime Minister Ehud Barak defended Israel’s helicopter strikes on Palestinian positions in the West Bank towns of Ramallah and Nablus, and in Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip. Barak said he would “continue to do whatever is necessary in order to protect the lives of the country’s citizens and its soldiers.”
