Thirty-five prominent Jewish citizens of Los Angeles, including Judges Lester Roth, Isaac Pacht, Harry A. Hollzer, Rabbis Edgar F. Magnin, Isadore Isaacson, and Marco R. Newmark, Irving Lipsitch and David Blumberg, have signed a statement disapproving participation in elections for an enlarged American Jewish Congress, scheduled for next April.

“The attempt to hold a so-called World Jewish Conference in 1934,” the statement said, “was rebuked and emphatically repudiated by responsible elements in American Jewish life and also in foreign Iands.

“The present attempt to resuscitate this issue by those sponsoring the present move of the American Jewish Congress can result only in lending credibility to malicious accusations leveled against the Jewish people by anti-Semitic governments.”
