Mrs. L. S. Witman, daughter of Rabbi Moses P. Jacobson, of Beth Ha-Tephillah Temple, Asheville, has been named secretary of the Consumers’ Council by Mayor Wickes Wamboldt.

The council has been formed at the suggestion of the United States Conference of Mayors and the department of agriculture at Washington to see that there is no profiteering, particularly in foodstuffs. Similar councils are being formed in most larger cities of the United States.
