The entire town of Glehn, which is near Dusseldorf, turned out for the funeral of a highly-respected Jewish citizen, Jacob Levy, who had lived in the town all his life. Mr. Levy was noted for his charity work and kindly nature.
The funeral was held on a Sunday, and in order to enable the population, largely Roman Catholics, to attend the services, the local priest held the regular Sunday services an hour earlier than usual.
The Catholic priest headed a delegation of townsfolk who called at the home to express their sympathy to the family.
