Revisionists Broke United Jewish Front Zionist Executive Holds

The Zionist Revisionists, by their recent statement of continued opposition to the Zionist Executive, broke the united Jewish front, according to Dr. Leonard Stein, political secretary of the Zionist Executive, in a statement at a press conference here.

“It was rightly expected that under the present trying circumstances, all sections of the movement join the Executive in prosecution of their political aims and that the meeting of the Zionist General Council established a united front. Unfortunately, these expectations did not materialize, and one of the parties of the Zionist Organization-the Revisionists-have seen fit even to declare war on those charged with the heavy responsibility of representing and safeguarding the interests of the Jewish National Home,” Dr. Stein declared.

“The Revisionist statement declared that they will continue in their ‘struggle against the present leadership and its policy,’ reserving for themselves the right to launch separate political action. Although the Executive is not intimidated by such threats, they are deeply concerned that on such a critical occasion, the Zionist movement should be threatened with disruption,” the political secretary continued.

“We hope Jewish and Zionist public opinion will not be misled by terminological inexactitudes. The struggle announced by the Revisionists is not directed against the Executive, but against the Zionist Organization itself. The policy of the Executive has been approved and adopted by an overwhelming majority of the Zionist body to which the direction of Zionist affairs is entrusted between Congresses. The General Council carefully scrutinized all proposals submitted by them, especially those of the Revisionists, and the political proposals of the Revisionists were rejected.

“The great majority in the Zionist movement consider the main political demands of the Revisionists impracticable and leading only to fruitless discussions and useless friction with the Mandatory. On the other hand, the Revisionists demand in relation to the Executive is nothing less than a constitutional coup d’etat. Their proposals amounted to a resignation of the Executive, while the opposition, which formed only ten per cent at the Zionist Congress, demanded fifty per cent representation in conducting the political work. Apart from the question of the impossibility of agreeing with the Revisionists on a common policy, their demands are constitutionally absurd and intolerably ambitious. They were, accordingly, vetoed by the responsible representatives of the General Council,” Dr. Stein declared.
