Rothschild Family Denies Ransom Paid for Release from Austria

The Rothschild family today denied reports of a ransom for the release last week of Baron Louis de Rothschild from Vienna detention by the Gestapo. A communions issued by the family termed press reports about Baron Rothschild’s release fantastic and declared: “Neither Louis nor any Rothschild spoke or authorized anyone to speak about Louis’s release or about an alleged ransom or other conditions under which he allegedly was released. The reported rumors are baseless.”
