The so-called minority paragraphs adopted during the Paris Peace Conference as obligatory for the constitutions of new States have not been included in the Roumanian constitution because “it was found impossible to embody these provisions in the text of the constitution”, Minister of Justice Florescu declared to the J.C.B. in answer to the question.
With reference to the recognition of the languages of the minorities in districts mainly inhabited by them, the Minister declared there could be only one official language, Roumanian. Citizens not speaking the State tongue, may use their own language with the help of an interpreter.
