Schools in the Israeli border town of Sderot will open for the new academic year despite the threat of Palestinian rocket fire.
Parents in Sderot on Thursday withdrew a threat to boycott the new school year, which starts next week, over an alleged lack of bomb shelters for their children.
Military officials argued that the town is sufficiently equipped to weather the almost daily salvoes from the nearby Gaza Strip.
Israeli media reported that, when children go to school Sunday, the air force and ground troops will be heavily present around northern Gaza to intercept any attempted rocket launches.
