The view that a permanent war is in process between the Jews and Arabs in Palestine that will not end until one side emerges victorious is expressed by Albert Viton in an article for the current issue of The Nation written from Jerusalem.
He ascribes the bloodshed and Arab unrest to the growing Arab Nationalist movement throughout the Middle East, especially to the Arab youth, who are “opposed to all exploiters whether foreign or native.”
“The Arab youth movement cannot be trifled with,” he says, “and the sooner the West learns to respect it, the better.” He quotes David Ben Gurion as conceding the dangers to the homeland and concludes:
“Two powerful forces are colliding. Blood is inevitable. It has flowed in the past; it is flowing today; it will flow in the future until one side emerges victorious.”
