Swedish Chief Rabbi Kurt Wilhelm returned here today after a two-week visit to Rumania and several days in Klausenberg, Hungary, and in Prague en route home. Dr. Whilhelm’s visit to Bucharest was treated as a state function and the Rumanian Government established a special kosher kitchen for his benefit in the largest hotel in the Rumanian capital. He was received by President Pere Groza.

Dr. Wilhelm attended Sabbath services in Bucharest together with Rumanian Chief Rabbi M. Rosen and was greeted by some 3,500 Jews in the synagogue. He also addressed a memorial service for several hundred Jewish refugees from Germany who perished aboard the vessel Struma when not allowed by the British to land in Palestine and for Jews murdered by Rumanian Iron Guardists and in Nazi concentration camps.
