The assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs denied that the United States had a hypocritical policy on how the United States and Israel should deal with their respective domestic terror threats. Testifying before the Middle East panel of the House International Relations Committee on Wednesday, William Burns also told lawmakers that the United States is “still watching for results” after Syrian officials said they will cooperate with U.S. requests to crack down on terrorism.
