The deputy leader of France’s far-right National Front said he will run for mayor of Marseilles when municipal elections are held in 2001. Bruno Megret recently came into conflict with the leader of the anti-immigrant party, Jean- Marie Le Pen, who blocked Megret’s bid to top the Front’s slate in next year’s elections to the European Parliament.
