The head of France’s umbrella religious body is being pressured to resign after making a comment about Auschwitz to a fellow Jewish leader. “If Auschwitz had not existed, it is likely you would have invented it,” Jean Kahn of the Consistoire of France wrote to Moise Cohen, who heads the group’s Paris branch. The two have long been rivals, with Kahn believing Israel should take a more hawkish approach to the Middle East peace process.
