The House of Delegates of the Medical Society of New York State yesterday endorsed a recommendation of its new president, Dr. Terry M. Townsend, that the Board of Regents and Legislature take steps to “effect reasonable restrictions of licensure of aliens.” The influx of refugee physicians from foreign lands has reached such proportions in New York State that “the law of self-preservation” impels physicians to demand restrictions on their admission to practice, Dr. Townsend said.
