The Israel Embassy in Paris refused Tuesday to confirm or deny reports that Ambassador Meir Rosenne, a 54-year-old career diplomat, is slated to replace Moshe Arens as Israel’s Ambassador to the United States. An Embassy spokesman said, “We have no comment at this stage.” Other sources said, however, that Rosenne has been sounded out by foreign Minister Yitzhak Shamir and that the possibility of his Washington appointment was probably discussed.
