The Reform movement mourned the passing of Rosa Parks. Parks helped fuel the civil rights movement in 1955 when she refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Ala., to a white man. She died Monday at age 92. The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism issued a statement Wednesday comparing Parks to the biblical figure of Nachshon, “whose faith led him to be the first to step into the Sea of Reeds.”
