The Senate passed by acclamation a motion praising President Bush’s latest push for Mideast peace. The resolution, passed Friday, cites Bush’s Nov. 12 news conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, in which they called for free Palestinian presidential elections and Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip as first steps toward peace.
