The Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial honored a Latvian who risked his life to save a Jewish girl during the Holocaust. Because Emils Resnais died in 1951, his daughter, Margarieta Verdins, accepted a medal from the Jerusalem-based museum in his honor during Thursday’s ceremony.
