The final verdict in the libel suit of Max Warburg against Theodor Fritsch, leader of German anti-Semites, was rendered here Friday night by the court.
Fritsch was sentenced to a term of four months’ imprisonment for libelling Max Warburg. Giving the reasons for the sentence, the judge declared that the house of Warburg has been established in Germany for the past four hundred years and that Max Warburg has done great service for Germany. Max Warburg has been the counsellor and expert for the German government on important economic questions and at Versailles. “The action of Theodor Fritsch in asserting that Warburg was guilty of treason to the country and that he gave preference to the interests of Jewry over the interests of Germany is condemnable,” the court declared.
