Israel’s trade deficit doubled last year, from $1.37 billion in 1993 to $2.76 billion in 1994, the Central Bureau of Statistics announced this week.
Imports of goods and services increased by some $3.6 billion during the period, the bureau said.
The significant worsening of the trade balance was said to have been due to a large increase in the purchases of consumer products by Israelis.
