Two Jewish septagenarians who had directed a personal plea to President Shvernik of the Soviet Union for permission to leave Russia and join their children in Israel, arrived here today aboard the liner Artza from Constanza. Both carried Soviet passports.

Mrs. Sophia Srebenik, 73, and Chaim Leib Orenstein, 77, had made their applications for exit permits to the President’s office months ago, but no action was taken until the requested permits were forthcoming a few weeks ago. Mrs. Srebrenik was required to furnish proof that she would be allowed to enter Israel. The Israel Embassy furnished the necessary documents and the two were permitted to leave the Soviet Union without further difficulty. Both arrivals have families in this country whom they have not seen in more than 20 years.
