Acting Secretary of State Sumner Welles revealed today that further instructions have been sent to Hugh Wilson, ambassador to Germany, to expedite the investigation of Marshal Hermann Goering’s decree for registration of Jewish property as to its application to the interests and property of American citizens. He added that in view of the importance of the question it would take a few days to obtain the required report.
Representative Emanuel Celler of New York attacked the Goering decree in a broadcast tonight entitled, “Hitler Sadism,” over a National Broadcasting Company network.
