U.S. President George W. Bush said he has had enough with Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Bush made his statement at a White House year-end news conference Thursday.

“My patience ran out on President Assad a long time ago. The reason why is because he houses Hamas, he facilitates Hezbollah, suiciders go from his country into Iraq and he destabilizes Lebanon,” Bush said.

Though the United States is trying to isolate Syria, it invited Syria to the Annapolis peace conference last month.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy also had harsh words for Assad this week relating to Syrian interference in Lebanon.

“I have reached the end of the road with Assad. Words alone won’t suffice; I want actions,” Sarkozy told journalists Wednesday in Paris.
