Ukrainian Government Approves Establishment of Second Jewish Region

A second Jewish region, similar to Kalinindorf, was approved yesterday by the Ukrainian government to be proclaimed in the Zaporozhje District, with New Zlatopol as the center. The new region will embrace 58 old and new colonies in the Mariupol and Zaporohje districts. These colonies have a Jewish population of 14,000. being 70 per cent of the entire population.

There are 3,651 farm units in the region, being 72 per cent of the units; 25 per cent are Nkrainian and 3 per cent German.

The Comzet, governmental department for Jewish land settlement, assigned 25,000 roubles for expenses connected with the organization of the region.
