The cotton barter deal with Germany sponsored by George N. Peek, head of the Export-Import Bank, may be revised to meet the objections of Secretary of State Hull, it was learned today.
Secretary Hull has objected to the proposed barter pact on the ground that it was not consistent with this country’s already established trade policy. This objection was transmitted to President Roosevelt who, it is understood, suggested that Peek revise the plan.
PLAN STILL ALIVE
That Peek’s cotton barter plan is still alive, was indicated by Secretary of Agriculture Henry A. Wallace. The secretary pointed out that the problem involved was not easy of solution.
