Vancouver City Council Urged to Pass Law Banning Discrimination

A sub-committee of the City Council here has approved a recommendation that the Council pass a by-law banning racial discrimination in public places of business. The by-law was first proposed to the City Council by the Vancouver Joint Labor Committee Against Racial Discrimination.

Proposed penalties for an infraction of this law include a fine of not less than $25 or more than $100, or imprisonment for a period not to exceed two months. Any licensee convicted under this by-law shall also have his license cancelled for a period of not less than 30 days or more than six months.
