Pope Plus XI, it was disclosed tonight, has written personal letters to King Victor Emmanuel of Italy and Premier Benito Mussolini in protest against the Fascist Government’s new marriage laws aimed at keeping Italy completely “Aryan.” Pope Plus, it was understood, pointed out that the laws, which are designed to prevent mixed marriages between Italians and those of other races, are in flagrant contradiction with Catholic dogma and the Concordat between Rome and Vatican City.
