Participants in the first World Zionist Congress, which took place in 1897 in this city, and who are taking part in the eighteenth Congress, which opens tonight in Prague, Czechoslovakia, will give testimony in Prague concerning the nature and contents of the so-called Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which testimony will then be forwarded to the Swiss authorities.

This is the first time since these “Protocols” have been used by anti-Semitic propagandists to give countenance to their claims that leaders of world Jewry are knit in a conspiracy against the Christian world, that their authenticity will be made a matter of court record. The trial here is in connection with the confiscation by Swiss authorities of 750 copies of the “Protocols” in Basle bookshops and the banning of advertisements in the Swiss press of the brochure issued by the Hammer Verlag of Leipzig which claims to prove that the Protocols are not forgeries, but were the program for world domination adopted in connection with the first Zionist Congress.

The veterans of Zionism who were present at Basle in 1897 and are now at Prague include M. Ussishkin, head of the Keren Kayemeth (Jewish National Fund); Dr. Leo Motzkin, chairman of the Actions Committee of the World Zionist Congress; Heschel Farbstein, member of the Executive of the Jewish Agency governing Palestine; Dr. Meyer Ebner, leader of Roumanian Zionists, and Berthold Feiwel, Austrian Zionist leader and for many years director in London of the Keren Hayesod (Palestine Foundation Fund).
