Vice-president Humphrey Lauds Work of Jewish Hospital in Jerusalem

Vice-President Hubert H. Humphrey today lauded the work of Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem for its role in helping to ease suffering and save and prolong life. In a cable to Dr. Mordecai Hacohen, co-chairman of the annual dinner this evening of the American Committee for Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, Mr. Humphrey, who is currently visiting Europe, praised the organization for “renewing an ancient humanitarian tradition which began on Mount Sinai and which has continued through the teachings of the prophets and the sages down through centuries.”

Messages at the dinner were also received from Dr. Ralph J. Bunche, United Nations Undersecretary-General; and John W. Gardner, U.S. Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare. More than 600 guests attended the dinner which was presided over by Herbert Berman.
