The principal Jewish charitable and welfare organizations of Washington, at a mass meeting held here of the members and contributors of these organizations decided to create a joint chest under the name of the Jewish Welfare Federation. They further decided to join the city Community Chest, which will shortly launch a campaign for at least $1,000,000. The charitable and welfare organizations representing various religious groups and philanthropic bodies are included in the Community Chest, which has the backing of all the leading organizations. Forty organizations are expected to be included in the Community Chest. Thirty-six have already joined.

The organizations which have formed the Jewish Welfare Federation are the Jewish the Jewish Community Center, the United Hebrew Relief Society, the Hebrew Home for the Aged, the Jewish Foster Home and the Juanita K. Nye Community House.
