A new Yiddish theatre, Folk House, has received official recognition from the Arts Council of Great Britain. This is the first time that such recognition has been awarded to a theatre performing in a language other than English. Recognition of a theatre as a cultural institution under the Arts Council entitles it to subsidies from the Council as well as exemption from entertainment taxes.
