A thousand Zionists tonight hailed the inauguration of passenger debarkation at the Tel Aviv port next Wednesday as a “milestone in the rebuilding of the Jewish National Home.” A special meeting sponsored by the Zionist Organization of America at the Hotel Pennsylvania adopted a resolution to be cabled to the Palestine Jewish community welcoming the Jews’ return to the sea. Dr. Bernard Joseph, legal adviser of the Jewish Agency, said that in the first year of its existence the port received 249 ships from 20 countries with goods valued at $3,250,000. Other scheduled speakers were Dr. Stephen S. Wise and Louis Lipsky, presiding.
