Zvi Lurie, head of the Jewish Agency’s Organization Department, died yesterday of heart failure. He was 62. Born in Lodz, Poland, he came to Israel in 1925. A member of Kibbutz Ein Shemer, he was a leader in the Mapam Party. Mr. Lurie was a member of the Vaad Leumi (Knesset Israel), the organizational framework of the Palestinian Jewish community during the British Mandate. When it was abolished in 1948 and a provisional council of state was formed, he joined the latter body. He was a signatory to the Declaration of Independence.
