A new Jewish village was established today in Palestine, commemorating Philon of Alexandria.

The colony, which will be named Kfar Jedidia, was established by contributions from Jews in Egypt as a part of the relief funds for settling German Jews in Palestine.

Jedidia, signifying friend of God, is the Hebrew equivalent of Philon.

Philon of Alexandria was a Greek-Jewish philosopher, born about 20 B.C. He was known for his work in the fields of metaphysics, ethics and psychology.
