So. African Jew Bequeaths $1,411,200 for Public Institutions

Public bequests totalling 504,000 pounds ($1,411,200) were made in the will of the late Joffe Marks, a pioneer Johannesburg industrialist who died here last month at the age of 92. Marks was born in Lithuania and was one of the first Jews to settle in Witwatersrand.

The bequests include 192,000 pounds for the Jewish National Fund, 96,000 pounds for the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, 96,000 pounds for the Wiwatersrand Old Age Home, 48,000 pounds for the Wiwatersrand University, and 48,000 pounds for the Johannesburg Hospital.
