330,000 Indemnity Claims of Nazi Victims Processed in German State

The State of North Rhine-Westphalia had processed 331,000 claims for indemnity filed by victims of nazism, by September 1 of this year, and more than half of the cases were decided in favor of the claimants, the State Ministry of Interior announced here today. The claims processed so far, according to the report, comprise 55 percent of the total filed.

Up to the end of September, the report shows, the indemnification office for North Rhine-Westphalia had approved payments totaling about $275,000,000. Claims are now being processed at the rate of about 2,500 a month, the Ministry declared.
