Funeral services were held here for Rabbi Emil W. Leipziger, rabbi emeritus of Touro Synagogue, who died at the age of 85 in Houston, where he had lived for the past two years.

A rabbi for nearly 50 years, he was active in the organization of the New Orleans Community Chest and the Jewish Welfare Fund. Although he said he was not a Zionist, he worked untiringly for Palestine is a haven for homeless Jewish refugees, and, after the State of Israel was proclaimed, continued that work.
