Pope Paul VI described the Old Testament today as "our common heritage" and declared that it was "honored by all of us." His comments were made during an audience for 150 participants in the Sixth International Congress on the Old Testament, which brought together Roman Catholics, Protestants, Jews and Greek Orthodox. "What prayer can be more profoundly devout, more universal and more moving than the recital of the Psalms?" he asked, adding that "in this sense, we can all pray together."
