According to freelance journalist Hans Hoffman, Israel periodically tests the effectiveness of European security measures against Arab terrorism by asking Europeans to “smuggle” weapons into their respective countries. In a feature article last week in the left-wing daily, Het Vrye Volk. Hoffmann said that an unloaded gun which Israeli security men asked him to smuggle into Holland was immediately detected at Amsterdam Airport by Dutch police. His “revelations” have been severely criticized by certain Dutch officials who say he violated the pledge of secrecy given to the Israelis.
